Old-Fashioned Gingerbread Loaf

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup molasses

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1½ tsp ground ginger

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup hot water


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line loaf pan.

  2. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

  3. Beat in eggs and molasses.

  4. Whisk dry ingredients together and add to wet mixture.

  5. Slowly stir in hot water.

  6. Pour batter into pan and bake 50–60 minutes.

  7. Cool before you icing (optional).
